MASSAGE THERAPY
SPORTS MASSAGE
Not just for Sports People! It’s a common misconception that Sports Massage is just for Sports people. However, Sports Massage is also for day-to-day maintenance of your body, triggering an increased blood flow to aid with reducing pain, loosening tight muscles, begin correcting postural habits and increase flexibility.
Increased range of motion: Faster healing for muscles, ligaments and tendons leads to an increased range of motion as you go about your day-to-day activities as well as helping improve your sporting performance.
Reducing pain and the risk of injury: Not only does sports massage reduce pain that you are currently feeling but it also aids in preventing future injuries.
Increased blood flow and circulation: Sports massage aids to increase your blood flow and circulation, in turn reducing pain and inflammation and support in a speedy recovery.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Remedial massage is a massage type designed to treat both deep and superficial tissues.
Remedial massage has a wide range of skilled techniques used to manipulate soft tissues, specifically for relaxation or to reduce pain and normalise the body’s muscles and soft tissues.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Massage during pregnancy is a wonderful experience. It helps a woman relax, supports her body during a period of physiological change and helps to prepare the whole body for birth.
Pregnancy can put strain on the body; massage can help to relieve all those aches and pains and encourages fluids to move around the body more effectively. Research has shown that an unborn baby can be affected by stress levels; as a result of skin stimulation, during massage a Mother releases oxytocin and prolactin.
In general, the more relaxed a Mother feels during pregnancy the more relaxed her birth and the fourth trimester begins.
BABY MASSAGE
Our baby massage courses run at various times throughout the year on a 1-2-1 basis. Please contact me should you have a group who may enjoy a course together.
Baby massage has many benefits:
Providing a technique to bond further with your baby. Giving you special time out, where you and your baby communicate.
May aid with babies sleep & tummy aches.
Improved positive interaction with your baby.
It supports you to feel more confident in handling your child.
A great way for partners, family members and carers to bond with your baby.
POSTNATAL MASSAGE
Apart from the obvious draw of having a moment to yourself, postnatal massage also offers health benefits – if every you needed an excuse (not that you need one) the benefits of massage for the postpartum mum include
Reduced swelling. Many mothers find that their body swells during labour. Massaging can help to redistribute water within the body and encourage the draining and circulation of excess fluids.
Improved milk production. For mums seeking an increase in their breast milk supply, massage can be a great way to increase circulation and the necessary hormones that stimulate milk supply.
Hormone regulation. The postpartum body is one of constantly fluctuating hormones.
Reduced anxiety and depression. Many new parents experience the “baby blues” or even postpartum depression. Getting a massage can help to decrease stress contributing to these anxious and depressed feelings.
Better sleep. Being a new parents is exhausting and sleep is limited, massage can help parents relax and get their body ready for deep, restorative sleep.
Skin suppleness and stretch marks. Whilst we don’t claim to be able to magic away your stretch marks, massage is evidences to increase blood flow to the skin and encourage new skin cells, by doing so the skins suppleness and regeneration is also triggered.
